Iconographers
The St. Nicholas Parish retained the services of noted iconographer George Papastamatiou and his student and colleague, Michael Lindow. George is a third generation iconographer; he followed the professions of his father and grandfather.
George's work, with over 40 years of experience, is well renowned throughout the US and in Greece, where, combined he has painted icons in over 100 different churches.
Upon entering the St. Nicholas Church for the new project, George was drawn to the icon on the Bishop's throne … one that he had painted years ago in Greece.
He did not know its whereabouts but was once again united with his artwork from over 30 years ago.This project was a major one for Michael, as he was given significant project responsibility. His previous work includes supporting George on the large icon grouping in the rotunda of the church, as shown on the following page.
